The Crew
Bill and Karen O’Brien will be your on-board hosts during your cruising odyssey. Less than a year after marrying in 1996, they sold most of their worldly possessions, bought a 47-foot sailboat and headed for the Caribbean! After two wonderful years of exploration (and a little working) they returned to the States and settled in lovely Savannah, Georgia, where they have built up a sizable real estate portfolio and also learned that they missed life aboard terribly. Now, working as professional crew, they are eager to share the cruising life with their guests aboard PRIMA.
Captain
Your Captain, Bill O’Brien, is a native of Massachusetts and spent his young adult years sailing the waters of Massachusetts, Buzzard’s and Cape Cod Bays, up in “cold country.” Since those early days, he has logged an estimated 25,000 ocean miles and earned his Coast Guard 50-ton Master’s license. In addition to sailing, he enjoys outdoor sports such as hiking and skiing and will happily “shoot the breeze” with anyone who will participate!
First Mate/Chef
Karen O’Brien began her boating life in 1986, when she moved aboard a wooden 1963 Penobscot trawler in Beverly, Massachusetts and spent the next two and half years getting to know the live-aboard lifestyle from the inside out! She also holds a 50-ton Coast Guard Master Captain’s license, loves reading and dogs, and wields a mean spatula.
